20 sept 2015 Sweet Sunday Contact Jam met Bar Altshuler
Heart – Technique – Practice
Those are the basics of the workshop and my teaching.
Heart – Willing to share a dance; to open our heart to this meeting.
Technique - Sharing weight between two bodies is one magic core in contact improvisation, but not always easy to reach. During the years some technique has developed to understand this core. Its important to learn it in order to go deeper into the practice. That way we can choose how and if to use it later.
Practice - Those two - heart qualities and technical skills - need a place and people to practice with, in order to integrate them into the dance. The workshop is the space and time for it, to learn and practice together. To Dance!
Technique focus - Pelvis and center area
The pelvis and the area above are important to the sharing weight practice and lifts skills. The pelvis is one of the most heavy bones in our body; the area above is the connection to the upper part, ribs, hands and head. In order to lift another body organically and to support its full weight, its useful to take care of those two, as well using them in our body as a surface to fly.The rest will follow.
