WE GAAN WEER SPELEN !!!

Play

Rol, Crawl, Wiggle, Sit and Stand

Play and coming into contact with others are the basis of Contact Improvisation sessions, but before being with others it’s essential to know one’s self. This afternoon of playing and improvising through contact will begin with a thorough warm up based on Body Mind Centering/developmental movement techniques: tuning in to the spine, the breath, the inner impulses that urge us to roll, to crawl, wiggle, sit, and stand.

Animal Play

Gradually the mover’s open to awareness of the space and the presence of others, and then the play really begins! Suzan guides the movers to tap into their always-present, but often-suppressed animal play instincts which are fueled by curiosity.  Giving guidelines and grounding for safe, joyous, spontaneous, and stimulating play, and working meticulously from inner to outer awareness makes the workshop suitable for all levels of Contact Improvisation experience.

For adults (and children)

The language will be primarily English, with Dutch translation when needed and is open to everyone who wishes to explore the exhilaration and freedom that contact play can bring. Children are welcome and will be incorporated into the session at whatever level they are comfortable with. There is the possibility for a later workshop conducted primarily for children, and expressly oriented towards children and adults playing/roughhousing (wild spelen) together but this workshop is shaped towards helping adults to reconnect with their natural playing instincts.

Kneepads are very useful; Suzan will bring a couple of extra pairs or legwarmers bunched up over the knee work fine too.
